Multi
Room Audio enables you to play stereo from a master
system in any number of locations. You get to house the
electronic components in a discrete location, which you
can access and, with some systems, even control from a
wall mounted or wireless remote control near the
speakers you want to listen to. |

Source - Multi Zone |

One solution is the “multi source – multi zone”
option. In addition to enabling all speakers throughout
the house to simultaneously play the same music (i.e.,
while you are entertaining), multi source – multi zone
also allows different people in different rooms to play
different sources of music, i.e., CD, radio and iPods,
simultaneously. Each listener actually controls the
music sources he or she is accessing via a keypad or touchscreen installed on
the wall or configured to operate wirelessly. |

Single Source – Multi
Zone |

|
| A
less dynamic solution is to run a receiver or amplifier
through a speaker selector switch. Volume is controlled
by simple volume controls affixed to the walls, instead
of keypads. Unlike a multi source – multi zone system,
you can only control volume from the volume controls,
i.e., you need to go to the CD player to switch tracks on a CD.
Only one music
source can be played at a time throughout the system.
This is a less expensive solution, and sound
quality may be somewhat inferior. |
